Ellensburg, WA
The course was specific to the OIG program outlined in the Federal Register
Draft and also final version. It covered the 7 key elements in a
compliance program, Coding, Billing, and reimbursement issues and education and
training needed in the office setting. It went over all Laws, Statutes,
Regulations and Guidelines as they related to compliance and the medical
office. Such as OSHA, CLIA, NCQA, Gainsharing Arrangements, Anti-kick
Back, Safe Harbors, Stark I and II, False Claims Act, Civil Monetary Penalties,
Balanced Budget Act of 1997, HIPAA, ERISA, NMHPA (Newborns and Mothers Health
Protection Act) of 1996, ADA Act of 1990, FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act), State
Laws (each state of the people attending was presented and you were shown how to
get that information for states), and then the Corporate Integrity Agreements as
well as Self Disclosure agreements.
The course was 4 full days and 3 hours for the 100 question exam on the last
day. When you left the course, you left with two three ring binders; one
was the actual course material and the other was an actual Compliance Plan
that you had put together by the end of the week. It has in it all the
policies you can think of, from Code of Conduct to Job descriptions. You
also left with a smaller binder that had both the OIGs draft and final version
of the Compliance Plan as listed in the Federal Register and also the OIG.
Further more you received a CD that had all the above mentioned rules,
regulations and statutes , for reference material.
